We run a variety of one day courses in lighting and sound throughout the year at our base in Leeds. You can book an individual place on a course or make a group booking [please call or e-mail for latest dates and availability]. We can also run seminars on specific pieces of equipment either at our base or at your location. If you are interested in receiving training on an existing installation or new piece of technology please do get in touch. All courses run from 10am to 4pm with lunch provided. Topics Covered:
In the morning we will have a seminar session, looking at the basic principals of lighting in theatres and live events. We also cover the range of lanterns, dimming, control equipment used, safe rigging practices and lighting design & programming. In the afternoon we have a practical session; experimenting with lights, setting up simple systems and programming basic moving head patterns.
This is a great course for anyone who wants to learn the basics in a day. At the end of the course you receive an invaluable manual of lighting tips, which has taken us considerably more than a day to learn!

Requirements: We ask that you have attended the basic lighting course above or already have a sound knowledge of lighting before taking this course.
Topics Covered:
This course looks at industry standard desks [Avolites Pearl and other desks] and a range of moving heads, including Mac 250, Mac 700, Mac 2000, Vari Lite VL1000 and LED battens. It also covers advanced lighting design [theatre and live] and the practical issues that may occur in real world situations. This is a practical, hands on course designed to consolidate existing knowledge and prepare you to work in a professional environment. At the end of the course we re-cap both the basic and pro level courses with supporting literature for you to keep.

In the morning we will have a seminar session, looking at the basic principals of sound and PA systems. We also cover safe rigging practices and small to medium system designs. In the afternoon we have a practical session; experimenting with mixing consoles, speakers, microphones and setting up simple systems.
This is a great course for anyone who wants to learn the basics in a day. At the end of the course you receive an invaluable manual of audio tips and will be able to set-up a basic PA system for a band.

Topics Covered:
Following on from the basic course, we will cover large systems including monitor mixing, Line Array systems versus point source systems, large frame analogue desks, digital desks, safe rigging practices and the impact of digital technology in the pro audio industry. We will be rigging a PA and monitor system with radio mics and IEM system in the afternoon. A must have course for all budding professional sound engineers.

We will cover radio mics; lapel and headset and how to get the best results from them. We also cover safe rigging practices and small to medium system designs. In the afternoon we have a practical session; experimenting with mixing consoles, speakers, microphones and setting up a simple theatre system. This course will give you a good grounding in the basic principles and techniques used in theatrical settings.
